Deeviations

~ my space to be; as I deviate into the dark unwritten sky, trailing constellations of letters behind ~

A tender bud awaits restlessly to blossom. An urge. A wish. A dream. To become a flower.

Call it the 'law of nature', but you cannot force a bud open into a flower. It cannot be. The petals would but break and fall, ever so softly - followed by its fragrant dream.

But, give it time. And It may. On its own. Some distant day. A beautiful blossom.

Everything has its time.

Some things grow from within not without.

Time.

“Have patience with everything that remains unsolved in your mind. Try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books written in a foreign language. Do not now look for the answers. They cannot now be given to you because you could not live them. It is a question of experiencing everything. At present you need to live the question. Perhaps you will gradually, without even noticing it, find yourself experiencing the answer, some distant day.” - Rainer Maria Rilke

We grow, we stumble, we drift, we cling, we fall, we linger, we float, we rise, we live, we learn.

Life. Lessons.
  • I am. I just am.
  • Be it with a kind word, a little time, a warm hug; cherish those you love - you never know if you’ll see them again.
  • Humility.
  • When love is real, when the person is right, you just know it!
  • If you really want to teach somebody a lesson… show them mercy, for mercy goes a longer way than revenge.
  • See the best in others.
  • Its true… strangers are friends waiting to happen, but its also true.. friends are strangers waiting to happen!
  • Take responsibility for your life.
  • The glass is half full.
  • Compassion.
  • Take a chance.
  • Happiness is not about what more can be, it’s about making the best of what is.
  • Arguments are almost always pointless. You can argue from any side of the story!
  • Be the change.
  • Let GO!
  • Making a life is more important than making a living.
  • Invest in relationships.
  • Control your anger or it will control you!
  • It’s the little things we do that really matter.
  • Count your blessings.
  • Happiness. Freedom. Peace. are simply states of mind.
  • It was never about what is around you but what’s within.
  • Your biggest threat is but.. your own self!
  • LAUGH often and much.
  • It’s not with age you grow... but by ‘becoming’ a child.
  • Have faith in yourself.
  • Love. Unconditionally.
  • Go the extra mile.
  • Expect nothing.
  • True love & friendship grows even over a long distance.
  • Live in the Now.
  • What goes around, comes around!
  • Help – if not you who else?
  • SMILE to the world, no matter how you feel inside – it’s the SMILE that is real.
  • You never truly know anybody ever.
  • It’s all relative… every ‘it’!
  • Spend time with yourself. Celebrate. Balance.
  • What you are now, you weren’t a minute ago.
  • There is so much more to learn and live…

  “I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learnt, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next. Delicious Ambiguity.” - Gilda Radner

Childhood memories.

Going down memory lane to a little monsoon city - I fondly remember as kids, my brother and I, eagerly waited for the generous rain gods to make their sacred presence felt! We would be thrilled beyond measure as the showers of blessings came pouring down - drenching the world around us. Even more thrilled were we, with the puddles that evolved in various shapes and sizes – all because it was perfect to set our little paper boats to sail! :)

In weirdly-colored and overtly-large raincoats (that did no justice to its purpose) - we would set off excitedly on our ‘sail away’ mission. Sometimes we would have a troop of our little friends from the neighbourhood marching along. One by one the paper boats would set sail, as we delightfully watched them float or… sink - in 'awe' nevertheless.

Besides, once the paper boats were done – we would start sailing just about anything; a dry leaf, a twig, a sweet wrapper, anything!

And as the rains recede, we would venture on to catch the tiny guppy fishes frolicking under the glistening waters – an escapade that ended in lovely glass fish bowls! While most remained fish, some unsuspectingly turned out to be clammy tadpoles! ;)

The monsoon project didn't stop there for us! Next, in all consuming patience, we would fill up empty coconut shells with damp mud and 'mold to perfection' little rows of choco-mud pies. The joy that goes into creating these little 'perfect' mud pies is priceless – far more than digging into an exotic piece of chocolate cake! *debatable*

Looking back, it’s fascinating… how amused, delighted and engrossed we were as little children with the little moments of happiness we created for ourselves. The simplicity of childhood. Innocence.

Childhood memories.

These are a few of my favorite quotes:

“Have patience with everything that remains unsolved in your mind. Try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books written in a foreign language. Do not now look for the answers. They cannot now be given to you because you could not live them. It is a question of experiencing everything. At present you need to live the question. Perhaps you will gradually, without even noticing it, find yourself experiencing the answer.” - Rainer Maria Rilke

“The whole course of human history may depend on a change of heart in one solitary and even humble individual - for it is in the solitary mind and soul of the individual that the battle between good and evil is waged and ultimately won or lost.” - M. Scott Peck

"We do not grow absolutely, chronologically. We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another; unevenly. We grow partially. We are relative. We are mature in one realm, childish in another. The past, present, and future mingle and pull us backward, forward, or fix us in the present. " - Anais Nin

“I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next. Delicious Ambiguity.” - Gilda Radner

“To deny that there was this dark side to life would be like pretending that the cold of winter was somehow only a temporary illusion, a way station on the way to the higher reality of long, warm, pleasant summers. But summer, it turned out, was no more real than the snow that melted in wintertime.” – David Guterson

"To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded." - Bessie Stanley

It was yester years, school-going days. Metamorphosis.

The time when I was confused and tormented by the world around me – wanting a changed world, wanting a better world, ‘wanting’! Don’t get me wrong, I have pretty much been a happy and contented soul all my life – but who hasn’t had those momentary lapses of reason?! ;)

The ‘Serenity Prayer’ in a lovely icy-blue frame, adorned with pretty little flowers, hung nonchalantly on the wall of my peach-colored room. It hung amid a jungle-themed calendar, a whimsical depiction of Alice in wonderland, and a picturesque painting of a lake. Coming to think of it, the lake was an absolute representation of serenity! *thinking*

Anyways tripping back to my metamorphic times - it was one of those jaded days as I sat brooding in my room. Mindlessly, I sat staring at the wall in front of me and for some obscure reason slowly started reading the Serenity Prayer. I have no idea how, no clue why, but on that day, the very ‘words’ that I have probably read a million times before, chose to come alive in a whole different way. It made sense. It connected. And ever since... my ‘world’ did ‘change’! :)

So today I would like to share with you my favorite little prayer – the ‘Serenity Prayer’ in the hope that it might make a difference to somebody somewhere like the way it did to me!

Reminiscence of what my life has come to be

Of friends who once were strangers to me
I ponder how my life’s become the way it has
The way it has not... and all that jazz!
Things happen for a reason or may be not
I cannot question why, how or what
So let it be, whatever it may be
I’m just blessed I chanced upon thee
In ways known, unknown I found
Friends who were not but yet around
Sprinkled softly with a luck so fine
Paths did cross, yes! yours and mine
A friendship so cherished began to sail
Making a difference to my lonesome tale
Fortune smiled, and so did I
For all of tomorrows as life goes by…

dedicated to the wonderful people in my life that I'm blessed with! :)
