Deeviations

~ my space to be; as I deviate into the dark unwritten sky, trailing constellations of letters behind ~

As time grows older, I stop to ponder
The path my life has treaded upon
To lessons learnt my mind does wander
And the people into my world, drawn

As life goes on, I stop to wonder
At the way it unfolds in front of me
Thru my storms, love stole the thunder
Now life’s not just about me, but WE!

Nopes! Not cricket or my age (plssss)! :) Wellll today, I have a little over 50 precious readers who follow my blog and I am absolutely delighted! My first sweet little milestone! :)

Rewind. I began blogging in 2004, but it was a personal/private blog and I did not have the confidence or the drive to share it with the world. Not my comfort zone. Last year, with a little nudge from friends and my own soaring interest, I let my inhibitions go.. and on a spur created a new blog, yup 'Deeviations - deviating thoughts from Dee' and I was geared to make it public. But teeny weeny jitters and qualms surfaced, so initially though public, I shared my blog just with my close friends. But then *thankfully* slowly yet steadily I started reaching out to other bloggers and writers (yes you) over the last three months, and the experience I must say has been absolutely phenomenal! I am soooo glad I took that step, cos now people, there is no turning back! Blogging has become a part of me. Enriching.

Over this one year, I have fortunately bumped into so many awe-inspiring bloggers & blogs that I ardently follow and catch up with at every chance I get! I am in awe of the raw talent, passion, creativity and the power of words out there... aah! so much to learn, ponder and perceive. I marvel at the way people think so radically and pen down their thoughts, each one encompassing an exceptionally different style of approach from the other, laudably and beautifully unique! Art.

Each day I revel in the glory of varied thoughts and expressions shared through the writings of you my blogger friends. Each day I revel in the comments I receive that encourages me and keeps me going with a happy trot and a cheerful smile... :)

Thank you so much - you encourage, humble and inspire me every day!

Today, the blogosphere is my second home. My comfort zone. Mine. Because of You.

I am a nocturnal writer. a solitary writer. Nighttime is my time.

Inspiration sets in when the sun sets down, when the sky turns a haunting shade of black – it’s my time for my secret tryst with words and thoughts. My 'fictional' quill and ink does the rest like a loyal shadow...

Like the perched owl within the dark forest looking for its prey, I embark on a midnight journey of writing... hunting for my nocturnal words. They are out there waiting to be plucked like stars out of the night sky... like silvery leaves off the sleeping trees... they are out there *silent* but there.

In the enthralling hours of darkness; reading thru my thoughts and capturing words... two persons surface from within me – the writer and the critic. They contrast, they compare, they clash, they concur. Sweet Triumph. A moment absolutely satiating... and the lingering bliss of it all as the words string together to become my next 'penned thought'!  :)

“The maker of a sentence launches out into the infinite and builds a road into Chaos and old Night, and is followed by those who hear him with something of wild, creative delight.”  ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

I wanted someone who really sees me,
I found someone who made me see...

Unfading trust in the eyes of the child
As she takes in hers his hand so wide
Safe in those hands she was not since
The same did rob her quiet innocence.

In reflection of November 14 - Children's Day, India.

Life. We woefully crib as we live; mocking at our disdained attempts to be happy, to want more, to find peace, to be more than we can be. We point fingers at life. The glass is half empty. We inadvertently keep searching – restless perturbed souls. We search for light with a lantern.

But... yet when a life departs we mourn; unutterable grief at a sudden death. and yet when the first cry of a newborn life pierces the stillness of silence; we delight. Ecstatic rapture at a new birth. We celebrate life. Knowingly or unknowingly.

Why not just celebrate the gift of life at ever step of constant living. Rejoice the present. Live in the now. Breathe in. Be happy. Stay simple.

Just a thought.

Free maiden of hidden thoughts
On a dark horse rides swiftly
Through wisps of unborn dreams
Treading upon life, fervidly
As embers of memories flare
Left behind for time to fade
She journeys on to where
Promises are in front of her, laid…

Striding towards the unkown of new beginnings...

Lost in nothing
Drawing the line
Lookin' for something
that's already mine...

A fleeting happiness.
A momentary bliss.
A shared joy, mine and his...
Overwhelming. Vivid. Boundless.
Alas! Short-lived.
A shared agony, mine and his...
Excruciating. Deep. Helpless.
When a part of me... Departed.
A shared love, mine and his...
Exalting. Pure. Timeless.
For love never ceased to exist
But only grew stronger...
When a part of me... Departed.

A tender bud awaits restlessly to blossom. An urge. A wish. A dream. To become a flower.

Call it the 'law of nature', but you cannot force a bud open into a flower. It cannot be. The petals would but break and fall, ever so softly - followed by its fragrant dream.

But, give it time. And It may. On its own. Some distant day. A beautiful blossom.

Everything has its time.

Some things grow from within not without.

Time.

“Have patience with everything that remains unsolved in your mind. Try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books written in a foreign language. Do not now look for the answers. They cannot now be given to you because you could not live them. It is a question of experiencing everything. At present you need to live the question. Perhaps you will gradually, without even noticing it, find yourself experiencing the answer, some distant day.” - Rainer Maria Rilke

We grow, we stumble, we drift, we cling, we fall, we linger, we float, we rise, we live, we learn.

Life. Lessons.
  • I am. I just am.
  • Be it with a kind word, a little time, a warm hug; cherish those you love - you never know if you’ll see them again.
  • Humility.
  • When love is real, when the person is right, you just know it!
  • If you really want to teach somebody a lesson… show them mercy, for mercy goes a longer way than revenge.
  • See the best in others.
  • Its true… strangers are friends waiting to happen, but its also true.. friends are strangers waiting to happen!
  • Take responsibility for your life.
  • The glass is half full.
  • Compassion.
  • Take a chance.
  • Happiness is not about what more can be, it’s about making the best of what is.
  • Arguments are almost always pointless. You can argue from any side of the story!
  • Be the change.
  • Let GO!
  • Making a life is more important than making a living.
  • Invest in relationships.
  • Control your anger or it will control you!
  • It’s the little things we do that really matter.
  • Count your blessings.
  • Happiness. Freedom. Peace. are simply states of mind.
  • It was never about what is around you but what’s within.
  • Your biggest threat is but.. your own self!
  • LAUGH often and much.
  • It’s not with age you grow... but by ‘becoming’ a child.
  • Have faith in yourself.
  • Love. Unconditionally.
  • Go the extra mile.
  • Expect nothing.
  • True love & friendship grows even over a long distance.
  • Live in the Now.
  • What goes around, comes around!
  • Help – if not you who else?
  • SMILE to the world, no matter how you feel inside – it’s the SMILE that is real.
  • You never truly know anybody ever.
  • It’s all relative… every ‘it’!
  • Spend time with yourself. Celebrate. Balance.
  • What you are now, you weren’t a minute ago.
  • There is so much more to learn and live…

“I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learnt, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next. Delicious Ambiguity.” - Gilda Radner

It was yester years, school-going days. Metamorphosis.

The time when I was confused and tormented by the world around me – wanting a changed world, wanting a better world, ‘wanting’! Don’t get me wrong, I have pretty much been a happy and contented soul all my life – but who hasn’t had those momentary lapses of reason?! ;)

The ‘Serenity Prayer’ in a lovely icy-blue frame, adorned with pretty little flowers, hung nonchalantly on the wall of my peach-colored room. It hung amid a jungle-themed calendar, a whimsical depiction of Alice in wonderland, and a picturesque painting of a lake. Coming to think of it, the lake was an absolute representation of serenity! *thinking*

Anyways tripping back to my metamorphic times - it was one of those jaded days as I sat brooding in my room. Mindlessly, I sat staring at the wall in front of me and for some obscure reason slowly started reading the Serenity Prayer. I have no idea how, no clue why, but on that day, the very ‘words’ that I have probably read a million times before, chose to come alive in a whole different way. It made sense. It connected. And ever since... my ‘world’ did ‘change’! :)

So today I would like to share with you my favorite little prayer – the ‘Serenity Prayer’ in the hope that it might make a difference to somebody somewhere like the way it did to me!
